“I cant understand you…”
Thought my parents
When I had my own views
To lead my life in my way

“Why don’t they understand me?”
I thought my self
When my parents didn’t agree
With my dreams for my life

When I fought with my little sister
For something very silly
My parents yelled at me saying
“Act as a grown up. You are not a child”

When I told a feeling about a topic
Or some opinion about a discussion
The same parents told me
“You don’t know. You are a child.”

As a pebble can create ripples
In that still water
These words created a disturbance asking
“Am I a child or had I grown up?”

I feel I know myself
My feelings, my thoughts
All are for my own life
For which only I am responsible

I love to live myself
With my dreams, with my hopes
To make them come true

Hey Yamini!..m here for the first time..and this poem of yours is really simple, and beautifully brought up!
The dilemma is common, but the fact is fr our parents..we're always children!

well written. Everyone goes through this stage in life. "N for parents we will always be their child. But, for us we will always be right.
So, the bottom line is, it's your life, you have to choose how you want to live, they might not like it, but what matter is whether you like the way you live

beautifully written. and very thoughtful indeed. Unfortunately the dilemma will just remain :)

May be its all because of their impeccable love towards their children, its upto us to sit down and spend some time with them and talk patiently about what we are planning and y we r planning so....
This is a very delicate issue and needs to be solved very softly by explaining them that you have grown up to take decisions but still a cute child of our parents who will consult them for advice.

We can neither say "I will take my decisions, its my life, i will decide how to live" because they have sacrificed many things in their life just to see us happy, so we have to respect their views.
